Monterey College of Law is our flagship campus located at 100 Col. Durham Street, Seaside, CA 93955, and has a long history of graduating excellent lawyers since 1972. Our students are from areas surrounding Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties and many are graduates of California State University Monterey Bay, Monterey Peninsula College, Hartnell, and the University of California, Santa Cruz. Our classes are in the evening, Monday through Thursday, so that students can fulfill their personal and professional obligations. Our Monterey College of Law campus also houses our highly respected Mandell Gisnet Center for Conflict Management and Salinas Community Legal Clinic.  Many of our graduates go on to establish careers in various sectors and at places like: Superior Court of California, Monterey, and Santa Cruz Counties; county district attorney and public defender offices; Fenton & Keller; Nolan, Hammerly, Etienne & Hoss; and The Grunsky Law Firm.

Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.)

Monterey College of Law is accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California to offer the Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) degree. The J.D is a three-to-four year (90 unit) traditional U.S. graduate law degree program designed for individuals who wish to be licensed as a California attorney.

JD/MLS – Concurrent Degree Program

In the dual-degree program an individual earns both a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) and a Master of Legal Studies (M.L.S.) degree.  It gives one an added boost when entering the legal sphere after completion of the 90-unit program.

Master of Legal Studies (M.L.S.)

The Master of Legal Studies degree is a 36 unit, two-year graduate program for individuals who desire to obtain an advanced knowledge of the law and the American legal system, but who do not wish to become lawyers. The degree program is designed for individuals in careers that involves interaction with lawyers and the legal system and for those who are entering professions where an understanding of legal reasoning and the legal system will improve their professional effectiveness.

LL.M.

The LL.M. graduate law degree program is a 24-unit program that is designed to promote advanced legal educational for practicing attorneys and law schools graduates from the U.S and foreign countries. Applicants are required to have successfully completed a first degree in law from a U.S. law school or foreign legal studies program. The LL.M. degree curriculum is designed individually for each student to meet his or her specific goals.
